We recommend that you have someone to assist you before you put on your
costume at least for the first time. Each costume is going to vary somewhat
in accordance with its design and structure, but most have a similar sequence
for putting each part on.
Here are the basics:
First, if there are any interior layers or padding, put those on first,
along with any other preliminary layers or interior accessories (such
as cooling units, shaping prosthetics, etc.)
Then, follow the procedure below:
1. Put on the main body of the mascot.
2. Put on any clothing or accessories not directly attached to the costume
itself that complete the outward appearance of the mascot's body.
3. Put on the feet of the costume (sometimes these are integrated into
the body).
4. Finally, put on the head of the costume. Be sure there is enough interior
room for you to move your head around if necessary and that the mascot's
head is securely fastened.
5. You are ready! Sometimes, it is advisable to have a spotter or handler
to accompany you or your mascot performer. Spotters act as an assistant
to the mascot, guiding movements and ensuring the wearer's safety throughout
the event.
